Humberston harriers

A flock of about 50 woodpigeons took to the air after being spooked by a marsh harrier hunting over fields adjacent to Humberston Fitties pools at 10.50am today.

About 20 minutes later, a male hen/pallid/Montagu's  harrier darted low over the same spot after flying in low from the RSPB Tetney Marshes reserve.

The bird was almost white, and, through binoculars,  I didn't detect any black, but I am not sufficiently experienced with any of the three species to have been able to nail the identification.

However, it was a most impressive bird - probably my patch highlight of the year so far.
