This past month when reading the "Latest News" sightings I've noticed that Doddington Park (wherever that is) is getting plenty of mentions , so out of curiosity I've just counted how many times this site got their sightings mentioned between March 2nd and February 2nd and its NINETEEN  wow that is a lot and it is almost always the same sighting Lesser/Common Redpolls and sometimes GSW  etc!  Why does the almost same sightings almost day after day have to be put on, its a bit unfair!

If I was seeing GSW at Black Bank almost every day I doubt very much if I would get more than two mentions a month.

Have had me gripe ta.

Max
PS: I do enjoy number crunching so here is another statistic have just done, (it's not a complaint by the way), just counted how many sites were named in the February Latest News sightings and how many were off the forum as near as I can remember (don't have photographic memory as well) 204 sites and 32 were off forum so that's about 16% and that seems very fair considering only an handful of members use the forum. Right I'll get me supper now :)

I for one always say the number of birds (daresay there are the odd occasions I don't) ie if I put Kestrel - 2 that means I saw two but if I put Kestrel that means I saw one and same with any other bird if I don't declare a number it means there was one.

I used Birdtrack for many years until I fed up of typing sightings on both that and LBC, so decided to only put them on LBC people who live in Lincs. I also been a member of GBW twenty-five years but stopped sending counts to them about ten plus years ago and started putting them on forum under "My Garden" the BTO understand why as I told them.

We all realise you have a tough job that very few of us would want to do. You say that you don't know where all the sites are, join the club, when I read your Latest News list every night there are many sites I have never heard of and wouldn't have a clue where in Lincs they, but most of the sites I refer to are not sightings from those on the forum and most likely Twitter, an example is Jobs Lane that could be in Timbuckto for all I know. Personally I think those who don't put sightings on the forum are the main culprits, whoever puts them on from Job Lane needs to say a bit more.

You asked last year where one of my sites is and I gave you more details and I think the OS Ref.

Any way good luck trying to get one and many to do as you say. Suggest it might be a question for locations to put to the LBC AGM????

Kind regards

John

Good afternoon to you all

I have just spent several hours struggling my way through the reports members have placed in this section. The reason I have done this is to compile a database for the committee to use in the bird report and in other avenues

What has alarmed me is the lack of numbers of birds seen or even an approximation. By default this should be recorded as one in the database - not what i would expect in many case. PLEASE MAKE AN ATTEMPT at numbers.

The other occurrence that concerns is where people forget to put the location down. I don't know where most of you live and lots of areas i don't know at all

If you use BIRDTRACK please say so in your post. If, in the past you have told me that you use this App then I will not have recorded your sightings as they go to the BIRD Recorder automatically. If you have used the Forum this year to pass on information and haven't sent your records to BIRDTRACK then please do so

Thanks
