Hybrid duck? North Lincs. January. was created by Rob Stevenson
Evening All.
The chat yesterday about the hybrid American Wigeon, reminded us about this duck we saw at a restricted access site in North Lincs last month.
The initial scan suggested a possible Scaup, but the more we looked the more that didn't feel right, there was certainly no hint of any 'tuft' but, the back seemed a little dark for Scaup maybe, the pale cheek patch was missing and the little flashes of white it showed occasionally had us wondering too.
We have shown the photos to a few friends and suggestions range from "within the range of female Tufted Duck' to a hybrid between 'Tufted Duck x Scaup' and 'Pochard x Tufted Duck'

Anyone on here care to add any thoughts on it?
Thanks very much
