I wasn't asking for myself but for those who prefer not to venture on to our forum to post   it sounds like a wonderful place if one loves dogs and not a wonderful place if one doesn't like them emptying their bowel contents willy nilly.

Hi John.
I tend to post regarding the blow wells under a generic heading, as I probably visit a few places in the same trip. I would go to the Lock, Covenham and the Tetney haven with the blow wells fitted in, and included in a post headed under one of the other titles. Unless it is something special, I probably wouldn't bother though. As Jim mentions, Grasshopper warblers are regular, and just before lockdown, twelve of us from the LWT stood transfixed for about half an hour watching a Grasshopper warbler singing barely twenty feet from us. Incidentally, on the same trip four of our party turned back from entering the site as it is pretty unaccessible due to awkward bridge and fence stiles. Yes, parking is still a problem. Only on road parking at Hoop End is available, and this is limited due to driveways and the narrowness of the lane. The other issue is dog walkers. At present it is quite muddy, and this stops most. However, in summer they are everywhere! Unfortunately, not every dog walker picks up after their dog, so you walk with eyes on the path and not up in the trees. For this reason alone I rarely use the blow wells in summer. I know some here do visit the blow wells, and yes it is a shame it isn't mentioned more on the forum. I will endevour to post more reports about it.

Thanks Nick - I must definitely get there. Back in the day, I seem to recall reeling grasshopper warblers being recorded on  early spring passage.

Find it odd you say you visit regular but I rarely see you post owt from what looks like an excellent site to visit. 

If members knew what was there we could also visit but we need to know before visiting. 

Last time I went about twenty years ago parking was almost impossible. 

Put more posts on please so we can see what is there.

Yes Jim. I visit it regularly, and I am always surprised I never see other birders. My last visit yielded Goldcrest, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Bullfinch, Chaffinch, Chiff Chaff, Fieldfare, Redwing, Marsh Harrier, Buzzards, Greater spot woody, Tufteds, the odd Gadwall and all the tits, including Coal. I have only seen the odd tree creeper, and that was generally in warmer months. On occasion, there are a pair of Barn owls that nest/roost in the farm, which can be viewed from the long boardwalk at the end of the circular route.
At present, the approach from Hoop End to, and leading to the wells is quite muddy. This has deterred nearly all dog walkers from the site which is an added bonus.

On the subject of Tetney Blow Wells, the site seems to have fallen off the birding radar in recent years.

Did you see much else, Nick - eg woodland species such as treecreeper?
