I have been told by an experienced and very reliable birder  that a couple of days ago there was a Common Sandpiper at the new workings up the hill from MSQ., an unusual winter tick.

An early morning visit yielded a brief encounter with a single willow tit associating with a mixed flock of  L T tits - otherwise 3 calling Cetti's and around 25 siskins - otherwise quiet
