Thanks John - unfortunately we have to pay for all our rings and equipment (each ring for a Reed Bunting costs 25p!)  The smallest avian tracker is at least £20 which makes them prohibitive.

Are they too small to fit a tracking device?

Since September 13th Martin Sizer and other members of the Mid-Lincs Ringing Group have caught and ringed just over 300 Reed Buntings at Donna Nook.  The vast majority have been caught in 1 x 60' mist net placed across the reeds in a mainly dry reed covered dyke.  Over 40 of these were ringed today.  There have only been 2 birds re-trapped from previous visits in this period and none from other years or ringed anywhere else!  These birds are obviously moving through the area but where from and where to?  Future ringing recoveries may shed some light on this but in the meantime - any suggestions?
