Thanks for the info Jim, I will have a walk up there one morning and keep my eyes peeled.
Yes, the trip out was pretty good. I have never been on one before, so personally I can't compare it to other trips but I really enjoyed it. I am sure Phil will post something on here with info, but as I remember it there were Guillimots, Fulmars, Gannets, Terns (one black, common and sandwich) Manx Shearwaters, Scoters, various gulls and a few cormorants. .plus seals and harbour porpoises.

As far as I know, the pond and adjacent land are owned by local building company Carr & Carr who use the site as a works depot. The new Suggitts Lane railway footbridge has a platform allowing quite expansive views of the waterbirds. In recent years, it has attracted long-tailed duck and rarer gull species. Earlier in the year, a birder sought and was granted permission for an ornithological survey, but unfortunately he was uinable to carry it because of the density of the vegetation.
Incidentally, did yesterday's pelagic out of Grimsby yield a half-decent harvest?

What a coincidence!
I was only telling Phil Jones during our pelagic trip yesterday about Chapmans pond. I fished this as a young lad, and what a great shame it suffered at the hands of Findus' pollution in later years.
I wonder who owns it now, and what will be its eventual outcome. It surely has recovered now, and what a great little oasis it must be now.
