Given their scarcity this year, i was pleased to come across a family of Spotted Flycatchers in Morkery Wood, near Castle Bytham on Wednesday afternoon. I am not sure exactly how many birds but at least 3, so at least one fledged young one. Marsh Tits, Treecreepers and Nuthatches were present and a good selection of butterflies including one Purple Emperor, at leat 5 Silver-washed fritillaries including a very tatty valezina female.

I understand from Hugh Dorrington that a pair of Spotted Flycatchers also nested in Dunsby again this year.
