I was watching six turnstones on the Cleethorpes rock armour whale's tail at high tide this afternoon when they momentarily had an unexpected companion - a greenfinch.

It would have perhaps been a more interesting sighting if it had flown in off the sea but, for some reason, it had chosen to fly out from the landward side.

The first breaking wave gave it a soaking and it flew back inland.

Meanwhile, this morning, two common terns perched up by the lake in Cleethorpes country park.
