During the first lockdown,  Hope Valley Bird Club ( in Derbyshire), to which I belong, emailed us daily with a bird related poem. We all contributed suggestions of poems we remembered from childhood or indeed still enjoy now…there is a huge number of birdy poems out there! I must say it really lifted our spirits and was greatly appreciated.

Yes, I lke that, too, Pete.
Unfortunately, people don't seem to write bird poetry these days.
Perhaps LBC should launch a competition for best bird poem of 2022 - one section for adults, one for schoolchildren.

We had a song thrush singing all morning in the garden today, so while we're in poetry corner I'll quote Browning :
That's the wise thrush
He sings each song twice over
Lest you think he could never recapture
The first fine careless rapture

Regards Pete

Bird thou never wert,

That from Heaven, or near it,

Pourest thy full heart

In profuse strains of unpremeditated art
