Returned to Wasps Nest side of Norton Woods briefly lunchtime today as had seen finch flocks on Christmas Day but light so poor and flocks so mobile that had not identified some species.  They seem to be feeding in what we think is green fertiliser crop but not experts on such crops.

Today light better and they were settling in trees more.
Good size chaffinch flock nearest road.
Then a mixed flock of brambling - good views, at least two linnets, good numbers siskin and redpolls _ some of latter I think arctic but some distance away.
So mobile and constant comings and goings that I didn't count.

Two great tits and two marsh tits came to car pullover where feeding station used to be along with a hopeful robin.

On 25th there were also goldfinches but didn't see those today.
Last edit: 01 Jan 2022 10:23 by Jacquie Harrison. Reason: Mistake about lesser redpolls - many moons ago I learned redpoll species incorrectly and I realised my mistake last night when relaxing! The ones I got a scope on were lessers.
