The cormorants were there last year Jim. I had never seen so many before in one place. I think they are a similar success story to Goldfinch and Magpie!

Judging by the number of feeding cormorants (100+) at Covenham Reservoir over the weekend, there must have been some sort of population explosion of fish.

On Saturday morning (9.30-10.30), there were also 30+ great crested grebes, c 10 little grebes and a heron on one of the banks.

I didn't see any of the scarcer waders/gulls/grebes reported earlier in the week.

Probably the best birds were a common sandpiper, a ringed plover and a great spotted woodpecker flitting between  the dead/dying trees adjacent to the car park (It's in the pic somewhere!)

I imagine the population of feral grey lag geese must be approaching 300 (maybe more) and there were about 40 Canada geese.

There were a few tufted duck but  I don't recall seeing any mallard.
