Well I don't really want to get into this Stuart either but I am pretty miffed about this and have been for some time. Colour ringing and the benefits, absolutely agree but not at the cost of disturbing the colony so much that they abandon the site. I did fear this when I watched the team swaying about in those tall spindly trees to ring the chicks. I also assumed, as it was me that revealed this site, that you would keep me up to date with any interesting date re this site and ringing results, never once did anyone respond to my request.

Thank you Colin.  The data collected by colour ringing re-sightings has made a major contribution to discovering post juvenile dispersal of a comparatively new breeding species in the U.K.  I am not going to enter a discussion on the why's and wherefore's as we will definitely agree to differ.  I am just sorry that you feel that way.

The herons have always nested among them Stuart. I will simply state it this way, I will never divulge a nesting site to anyone ever again, especially ringers.
