The alpaca field at Tetney Lock is only about the size of a municipal park football pitch but it was hosting 10-12 wheatears at noon today. There were also about the same number on nearby ploughed fields.

Later, there were 30+ wheatears on the dunes on Cleethorpes outer beach and the path through the saltmarsh.

On the saltmarsh, there was also a superb male whinchat.

Back to Tetney Lock this morning, sightings also included a short-eared owl over the RSPB reserve marshes and three common sandpipers at the outfall sluice.

Nearby, a single corn bunting was singing.

Plenty of swallows on the move north and one swift heading south.
