Flask of tea and biscuits/cakes plus me gear for an afternoon of watching (May 6th) started at BB where I had a pair of Mallard over, two LBB Gull low over far pond. Next drove round Trent side up to Wildsworth but only a Swallow. Then had two and a half hour at Owlet car park and only had two mins to wait before the star attraction appeared, both parents were busy feeding their brood and I was busy clicking away on the nikon plus a couple of vids. Sadly the FS had no food, it will next time. A great tit enquired if there was any room at the inn but it got short shrift when one of the adults caught it having a nose round, this made me smile! During the performance also spotted a male Blackcap, GSW, blue/great tit and a chaffinch. Well pleased I went and the entertainment was superb well worth going!

I am now realising how much I have missed going out not just for the wildlife but the fresh air etc.
Cheers
John :)

Am advised to get out as often as possible for my mental health, so taking every chance I get!

Carr Dyke PS: PM
Blue Tit, Feral Pigeons and Crows (plus b'flies in their section) plus an Apache chopper over.

I see the track to Butterwick Hale is now gated, most likely to stop the racers and dumpers, I won't bother anymore.

East Butterwick: PM
Swallow on wires (my first this year), Kestrel and 11 Linnets.

Sands Lane: PM
Robin, Linnet - 5, Red-leg Partridge - 2 and Yellow Wagtail - 2.

Enjoyed the fresh air and look forward to many days of watching on a regular basis, as advised.

Cheers
Max

Fantastic that you are up and about. We are still feeding at Black Bank but have reduced it a lot, no more lard smeared on the trees for the Great Spotted Woodpeckers until next winter ! The Reed Buntings are very regular and sometimes 3 of them come but always males.. On Wednesday also had Blackcap and Willow Warbler in feeding area. Feel free to put food there, it costs us a fortune what with feeding 2 foxes that come on our front garden every night.

Well finally plucked up the courage to go out for first time since last September and well pleased I did!  Was hesitant before setting off mainly due to the DP hitting last weekend, but over the days managed to rid them without ringing for help. I packed my gear up after dusting it off then made a flask of tea etc and set off to my local area.  Went to Carr Dyke and got a shock, the rough track and been sorted and is now pancake flat. Here are my sightings for the four hours I was out from 13:30 to 17:30:

Carr Dyke: Kestrel hovering.
                  Wood Pigeon - 12
                  Mallard - 1pair.

Laughton (boulders):  Robin - 3, Blackbird - 2, Greylag - 3.

Owlet Woods car park:
GSW
Coal Tit - 2
Blue Tit - 5
Great/Blue & LT Tits
Chaffinches
Robin - 3
Dunnock - 1 pair flirting
Nuthatch - 2

Black Bank 16:45 - 17:30:
Kestrel
Crows & Rooks
Tufted Duck - 1 pair
Reed Bunting - 2m on feeders (surprised to see them)
Dunnock - 2 flirting
Robin - 2
Chaffinch - 3
Jackdaw
Blackbird
Great/Blue/LT & Coal Tit one of each
Pheasant - 5 (3m 2f)
Wood Pigeon
Greylag - 11
One poss pfg didn't have scope.

A most enjoyable and thoroughly enjoyed the change of scenery and getting fresh air in me lungs for a change! Looking forward to next trip, soon!

Kind regards

John aka Max :)
