Birds seen during a very quiet routine ringing session between 1330 - 1700 today;
Bullfinch 7
Meadow Pipit 1
Blue Tit 2
Great Tit 1
Goldcrest 1
Blackbird 6
Chaffinch 2
Woodpigeon 11
Robin 2
Carrion Crow 2
Pheasant 6
Song Thrush 1
In addition a flock of 10-15 Common Crossbills were feeding on the Corsican Pines and dropping down to drink in a puddle near a net that had already been erected. I went to check the net and a second year female flew into it and was later ringed. They are known to be early breeders but this one was just starting a brood patch.
