At high tide (11am) today, the count at the Cleethorpes whales's tail rock groyne was 68 turnstones and two purple sandpipers. Shortly after midday, they flew off together and were next seen on the breakwater nearest the beach helter-skelter where one of the sanpipers was feeding at the base.

The seal was prospecting both sides of the groyne for 10 minutes or so..
