An excellent trip out, Ian.
I would have been chuffed at just seeing that number of Marsh Tits!

I woke up feeling depressed that another, severe lockdown will prevent me visiting our coastal reserves or indeed, venturing more than a few miles from home. However, i dragged myself along to Callan's Lane Wood just a few miles from home and immediately my spirits were lifted. I spent just over three hours in the wood in mixed weather. Sunshine one minute then sleet the next. In fact the weather seemed to be competing with Boris Johnson for the frequency of u turns!
33 birds were encountered as well as 85 Fallow Deer. Highlights below;-
c 75 Pink-footed Geese over mid-morning flying due west
2 Red Kites
3 Buzzards
At least 4 Crossbills
9 Lesser Redplolls
3 Siskins
4 Bullfinches
5 Marsh Tits
2 Nuthatches
c 30 Redwings
c 20 Fieldfares

Happy New Year All!

Ian
