Another place on my patch was YWTW just off Scotter Road, go over motorway bridge, going south and take immediate right turn then drive along rough road, turn left and last time I was there they had made a parking place, am sure you must have been. Lots of small birds visit the works and Grey Wag usually seen in beck.
Butterwick Hale was usually good for waterfowl and waders.
Good luck!

Hi Alan,
Do you ever go down west common north road and go along the track leading to chicken farm that is hidden? If you have been you will know there are two animal farms. There is also the "Private" wee wood on the right, I've been quite often in past, thought many times it would be suitable to get Crossbill but as yet zero. I always parked just before the second farm and had a few raptors and goldcrest in conifers. I'm not asking you to go just have you been.
Another fave place I went but needed permission was Johnson's Ponds down Butterwick Road but can be accessed from BB. I've not been since the bailiff left I knew and that's many years ago. At one time they had a LEO but sadly it was killed (I reported it on old forum) also had Oyk breeding. Once went at 05:00 one weekend not knowing it a match day starting at 08:00 and had a total of 13 terns that was more than MSQ got, I always wanted to see the Green Woodie there on my visits and almost always did
there was always a good number of assorted species there, stopped going but many times wanted to ring the owner and get permission again.
Regards
Max
