Hi Jim
Thank you for this appeal - I'm one of the people who dislikes social media and never use as wasted time when worked full-time sorting out grievances between people at work that were made worse or caused by social media outside of work.
I do use the forum as invigilated if needed.

Chris is right - there's definitely no 'blacklist' (if it's any consolation, my Cleethorpes/Humberston sightings seldom appear either).

I fully agree with Jacquie. Alan's regular and comprehensive posts are very informative and greatly appreciated.

I think it's great when birders like him take the time and trouble to keep other members updated, and it's unfortunate that he should have gathered the impression that MSQ has been snubbed.

Chris (who does brilliantly in collating the county sightings) has covered the reason for the misunderstanding well, but I am concerned with his invitation for Alan and other members to send records direct to him. If that happens, they might end up not posting on the Forum at all, thereby potentially sounding its death-knell.

I therefore appeal to Alan - and other members - to keep the updates flowing into the Forum.

Without a steady flow of information, it will be seriously impoverished which will be greatly to the disadvantage of the club.

Hi Alan I am the person who compiles the the latest news section of the Forum. I get the sightings by scanning Twitter, Facebook, BirdGuides and WhatsApp as a rule. Sometimes people send me their sightings directly but not many. I do not have access to records of BirdTrack. I believe the Bird Club receive them annually to use in the compilation of the yearly bird report. I tend not to use records that are already on the Forum as they can be seen as repetitive and on occasions are posted a few days after the event. I want the latest news section to be up to date and a flavour of what is about in the county on the day. Looking at the Latest Sightings tonight I notice a glaring error which I will have to sort out once I have finished my reply to you.
I can assure that all your records are used and there is no blacklist against Messingham. If you have placed your records in this section then they are already on the system to view.. Another task I do for the BirdClub is compile a monthly Excel spreadsheet of all the sightings that people like you place in the Forum. Today I completed the October edition and I can tell you that you have 103 entries in it out of 707 lines I had to delete 13 as they were repeated. in your last post I believe
Despite the instant results of Twitter and Facebook I understand that some people don't like to use Social Media at all and prefer to enter their sightings directly into the Forum. If you do use Twitter and Facebook then add @lincsbirding to your message and someone will retweet the message which automatically enters it on to the front-page. So, if you want your sightings used in the latest news section (and all that you posted today I would have used) I am happy for you and others to send me your records directly. I will not use them if they more that 24/36 hours late and if it is a record for one sparrow etc. i would use it if 100 sparrows

28/10 - Pintail 2, Marsh Harrier, Great White Egret
14/10 - Pintail 2, Kingfisher, Egyptian Goose 2, Marsh Harrier,Treecreeper
9/10 - Red Kite, Egyptian Goose 2,Pintail 2, Water Rail, Cettis Warbler, Pink F Goose c250,Siskin 100,Crossbill 4
2/10 - Cettis Warbler, Pintail 2, Egyptain Goose,Crossbill 4, Swallow

ALL of these birds were put on Birdtrack + Lincs Bird Club but yet again not a single one appears in the monthly bird club news letter although similar birds from other sites do.
I will no doubt get yet another reply giving some reason why they don't feature but I believe MSQ is on a blacklist and therefore nothing is ever noted. A complete and utter waste of my time. I will not be renewing my subscripton.
