Based on the most recent Lincs Bird Report (2018), spoonbills counts in the county peak during August and September when they reach 50-plus. It would be interesting to know their breeding origins and to monitor their movements - they seem to get around a fair bit.

This morning, I didn't see any waders at the pools (which now have little water left in them) except for a few egrets.

That would have been a bit special.

I was there at 8.30am,. There were two greenshank but not too much else.

Yesterday's breeding-plumage godwit seems to have moved on.

The outer pools are now getting so dry that the waders are moving further into the reserve and becoming harder to detect.

0700 this morning as I was cycling along the pools @ Humberston Yacht Club , when saw 7 spoonbills flying in from a south easterly direction and unfortunately continued in a westerly direction towards Humberston . It did initially look like they were going to settle but a search of local pools was fruitless . What a delight though .
