Happily, the traders have been alerted and are on the side of the martins.

As are the hotel’s owners.

Fingers crossed for the house martins nesting under the eaves at The Kingsway hotel on Cleethorpes sea front.

They're hanging in despite the recent arrival of a) scaffolders and b) window installers.

However, the crunch could come when the painters turn up.

I've written to the hotel's new owners asking them to safeguard the birds.
