High-speed chase was created by Jim Wright
A high-performance dog chased a hare the length of the canal bank at Tetney Lock this morning. It seemed to be gaining, but its quarry twisted its direction and made off down the bank into the field where I lost sight of it. The dog continued the pursuit, but its prize was almost certainly lost.

Also a hobby flying powerfully overhead as it made its way inland and, over the saltmarsh, a marsh harrier getting grief from panicking redshanks and oystercatchers.

There was also a family of tree sparrows drinking from a puddle.

On the downside, there was a lot of detergent froth to be seen. With so much chemical stuff entering our water courses, it is perhaps no wonder if some aquatic insects and water-liking birds are having a hard time of it.

Finally, a cuckoo was calling from somewhere on Thorpe Park golf course where there was also a mistle thrush on one of the greens.
