The first Swifts of 2020 appeared "screaming" over our Keelby garden late this afternoon. On checking my records, it appears that they have arrived a week earlier than last year.
Another addition to the Keelby Village "lock down" list which now stands at 64 species.

Regards

Jon

Another addition to the Keelby Village "Lock Down" bird list this morning in the form of a Hobby. This takes the list to 63 species.
I watched the bird chasing insects over the Nun Cotham area of the village.
This is now the third year running that I have recorded this species around the village.

Regards

Jon

A new species was added to my Keelby "lock down" list today. My first House Martin of 2020. Checking my records, the first sighting of a House Martin over Keelby last year was also on the 19th April.

The Keelby "lock down" list now stands at 59 species. :)

I have been using my daily exercise time during the current lock down period to "re-visit" my local Keelby village patch, a patch I have to admit I had started to neglect in favour of the birding delights of the River Humber!
For those familiar with the Keelby area, my patch takes in Roxton Woods and the fields to the North of the village. I started my almost daily walks on 19th March and to date have recorded 58 species.
Highlights so far have been:
Red Kite - my first record around Keelby.
Green Woodpecker - found I have a pair residing just around the corner from where I live
First Swallow, Willow Warbler, Blackcap and Whitethroat of the year.

I have been on the lookout for a Ring Ouzel and Wheatear, but despite the recent appearance of both species in North Lincolnshire, neither species has as yet been kind enough to visit my patch.

I can post a full list of species recorded if folk are interested and will share further updates as and when.

Stay safe everyone.

Jon
