Common Gulls and Marsh Tits

For my exercise today I did a 7 mile walk taking in Callan's Lane Wood. On the way between Rippingale, where I live and Kirkby Underwood I was amazed to see a huge flock of Common Gulls, flying north into the wind. I estimate over 800 birds, but I might have missed some. By far the greatest number I have ever seen. Presumably they are birds that have wintered in the south returning to their breeding grounds?
In Callans Lane Wood which has been the subject of extensive felling and thinning I still managed to find two pairs of Marsh Tits, 6 Redwings, a singing Mistle Thrush, 4 singing Chiffchaffs and 2 singing Goldcrests. I will put them on Birdtrack.
Stay safe everyone.
Ian
