I saw the breeding plumage (almost) bhg over the w/e, but didn't see it at lunchtime today (Tue). A couple of others were also darkening up.

Best duck species today was gadwall (two)

Usual species difficult to find or not showing this morning. Hedgerows along Martin Wragg Way and adjacent fields, usually alive with birds, held nothing.

Those seen:
Grey Heron 1
Blue Tit 1
Goldfinch 4
Curlew 4
G S Woodpecker 1
Crow 4
Blackbird 1

On the water were varying numbers of Mallard and Tufted Duck.
Gulls:
Commons
Herring
B/H, one of which has complete black cap already.
Several immature of the above
Coot
Moorhen
Gt Crested Grebe 1
Pair of Mute Swans, still with last of their cygnets. It was thought the cygnet was unable to fly, but all three took flight this morning dispelling that idea.
