Thanks for the information
The problem is I am very much old school and only use Twitter for Rare Bird Alert and nothing else
As I said I also put records on Birdtrack.

Based on the responses to your post, Alan, I also hope that you will bow to public demand and resume submitting posts from MSQ.

Your info - both about species recorded and about habitat management - provides a refreshing reminder that there is more to the county birding scene than Gib, Frampton and the other hotspots.

With the advent of Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media, our website forum seems to have become a bit of a wallflower of late. But in my view, its content remains best for authority, longevity and exclusivity.

Here’s hoping other members might also consider resuming posts with the same zeal as they did in days gone by.

Don’t let Twitter put us out of business!

Hi Alan
I too am sorry to hear that are not going to continue submitting records from Messingham. Perhaps this is my fault as I have got out of the habit of looking at the sightings from the forum until the end of the month when i compile a list of all sightings from the forum (not the new sightings section) This list goes to Colin and Sheila Jennings monthly and is entered into a large database and is then used to compile the annual report. Your sightings will certainly be in that as long as there is a location for the sighting. The new sightings section is mainly compiled from Twitter, Facebook, Gib Ringing, Whats App rare bird group and even messages direct to me occasionally
I hope that you will reconsider

Hi Alan,

Just to confirm a few points...

Firstly, all records submitted to the LBC Forum are transferred from the Forum and add to the LBC database.

This is done monthly due to the low number of records now (unfortunately) submitted on the Forum.

The data in the LBC database is used to write the LBC Annual Report.

Secondly, the latest news page ( www.lincsbirdclub.co.uk/site/index.php/sightings/latest-news ) is compiled by Chris Grimshaw and myself. This is a very time consuming activity and Chris Grimshaw need congratulating for keeping going... The records that appear on the latest news page (and subsequently in the eNewsletter) are just a quick "snap shot" of the 10.000's of records that the LBC deals with on a monthly basis.

Simply because it's so easy to deal with, most of the records on the latest news page are "cut and paste" from Twitter.....

I am sorry that you will no longer be submitting records to the Forum (this will mean your records will no longer appear in the annual report).

If you wanted to have a chat please don't hesitate to contact me via info@lincsbirdclub.co.uk - I would be happy to ring you back...

Best wishes

Andrew

I will no longer be submitting MSQ records either here or on Birdtrack as I normally do,
I am doing this as despite previous comments regarding lack of records being published as I note that none of these records ever appear in the newsletter and so the information is a waste of my time.
In November for example I recorded at MSQ amongst many other species, Goldeneye,Whooper Swan, Marsh Harrier,Woodcock,Red-C-Pochard,Egyptian Goose,Willow Tit,Treecreeper etc .These birds appear at other sites and are then published in the newsletter but as far as MSQ goes it might not bother to exist.
Sorry about the rant but I have other things to do with my time
