The incessant squeaking of a juvenile sandwich tern (one of three of the species) was the main-attention stealer at high tide this afternoon near Cleethorpes Leisure Centre.

Nearby, there was a healthy presence of waders - curlew, knot (some feeding almost next to the seawall), bar-tailed godwit, oystercatcher, turnstone and ringed plover (though not as many as the 150-plus that were present at low tide yesterday).

Further out, there were 10 shelduck and 30-plus brent geese - the first I've seen since this autumn.

On the sand were 10 pied wagtails.
