Nothing definite, Jim. The oil was first spotted about 06:00 the morning after the storm. Have traced the oil back to the road bridge near Wilton Road, where there is a large surface oil/debris accumulation. Checked south beyond the bridge for 500 metres yesterday afternoon, which goes behind the Garages but didn’t find anything significant, although the storm drains there were, by then, not ejecting any water into the Beck.
My thoughts are that the oil pollution could have originated at this point because of storm water from the garage sites. The pollution looks to be held at the bridge, where there is a lot of debris to hold it. Because the water level is falling, and the current slowing, the oil is being slowly released. This is only my theory, the real reason may be totally different, so should be properly investigated to prevent it happening again.
Have contacted the EA three times with updates, but have seen no action.
Have informed them of resident water birds, with young, water voles, other mammals etc. But still no visit that I am aware of.

An aside note: The afternoon prior to the storm I watched literally hundreds of small fish, probably the most Ive ever seen at this point, passing down stream. This is now covered in oil.

That film of oil looks nasty. It has been very conspicuous from the bridge at the Link Road entrance to the country park Any idea of the source?
