Excellent sunny and frosty morning circuit of local patch (Marton Village and Trent Port) produced 60 species helped by recent flooding bringing in many waterbirds. Highlights included:
Chiffchaff 1 with long-tailed tit flock (becoming a regular wintering species in area).
Cetti's warbler 1
Grey wagtail 2
Shoveler 12 S
Teal 32
Wigeon 48
Gadwall 24
Goldeneye 1m (less than annual here)
Goosander 1m N
Greylag goose 6
Redshank 6
Snipe 2
Golden plover 6
Lapwing 320
Fieldfare 125
Linnet 180
Bullfinch 10
Mute swan 24
Plus possible distant whooper swan and raven movements (over fields on Notts side of Trent)
