Taking centre stage this morning, April 12, was a handsome drake shoveler. Most numerous water bird was g-c grebe with seven present. I hope their territorial dominance isn’t keeping away rarer, more exotic grebe species.

Early afternoon, there was also a singing willow warbler.

A late morning walk around some of the park reveal 23 species, best of which were
Chiff chaff
Blackcap
Bullfinch
Reed Bunting

Very little on lake, resident Mallard plus
Pair of Mute Swan
Cormorant
Gt Crested Grebe x 5
Tufted m/f

Woodland produced many Speckled Wood butterfly, 1 Yellow Brimstone and 2 Bee-fly

Saw my first Swallows and Martins of the year at Barton Far Ings yesterday
