Hello again Jim

Andrew actually posted the update on my behalf after I had a lot of consultation with Pete Short and Mike Pilsworth.

I think the 'laymen' amongst us will just have to accept exactly what it says 'Wildfowling on Tetney Marshes is being carried lawfully out under license and is strictly controlled'.

Kind regards
Martin

Thanks for posting that update, Andrew

Both sites are such great locations for dog-walkers that birdlife has, sadly, long become depleted.

There are more dog-lovers than birders, so I accept that the majority must prevail.

Re the wildfowling, which authority issues the licences? What species can legally be shot? What are the terms of the licence? What are the ‘strict’ controls? Who enforces them?

It all seems a bit vague, so it would be helpful if someone came up with text and chapter - and posted it in the forum.

'Reporting of Disturbance along the Humber Coast'

If you see disturbance of birds or other problems at sites along the Humber Coast, but particularly within the RSPB Tetney Marshes Reserve or the Cleethorpes Local Nature Reserve, please report the incident to the RSPB Warden for the area, Mike Pilsworth on 01405 704665 (Landline), or at Mike.Pilsworth@rspb.org.uk

Your report should include the place, date, time, cause of the disturbance (dogs, jetskiers with registration number, paddle boards, kites and kite surfers, drones, paramotors, etc), and number and species of birds disturbed, if possible. Photos would also be useful.

However, please note: -
You must not put yourself at risk in any way
You must not do anything that would inflame the situation
There are designated areas where some of these activities can be carried out legitimately
Wildfowling on Tetney Marshes is being carried lawfully out under license and is strictly controlled.
