There was an Interesting talk by Gareth Dalglish of Natural England at last week's Greater Lincolnshire Nature Partnership conference in Lincoln.

He noted that great crested newts inhabiting ‘protected' sites, especially on new housing developments, are vulnerable to many pressures - eg pollution, invasive plants, dogs and dumped terrapins and goldfish.

Mr Dalglish outlined the proposals of a new licensing system which will
encourage the provision of habitat corridors, allowing gcns to move from site to site.
