Following a piece of confusing reporting by Peter Levy on Look North I was contacted by a number of birders asking for clarification. I asked Geoff Mullett who forwarded this response from the seal warden:

Hi Geoff,

Many thanks for explaining the situation to members of the Lincs Bird Club. A very poor report on Look North only seems to have confused the general public.

As you know we don't own any of the car parks.
In a short explanation nothing much has changed for those people wishing to use the Stonebridge car park. Only the last three weekends in November and the first in December between 9am and 4pm is there a restriction. Those early birders will still get in before 9am. As for being illegal it has been agreed with the Environment Agency who own the car park.
Anybody is still able to use the car park on any other day of the week or out of those hours.

I know changes will always create new issues and not all will agree with those changes. Our focus is still on the welfare of the seals and seeing that the general public experience a fantastic wildlife spectacle, safe and without causing disturbance.

Look forward to working with you soon
All the best
Matt
