Incidentally, some of those reports from yesteryear are gems

It’s intriguing to compare the status of species then with the situation today and to read the special reports.

The older reports are obviously a bit weak on photographs but they have some excellent pencil drawings.

It is well worth checking the Sales List section on this website (and taking advantage of the special offer).

Extract from the 1980 Lincolnshire Bird Report re nightingales:
“A census located at least 100 singing males in the county.”
Those were the days. How did we let them slip away?
