Finally got to visit the place today, good views from the outside deck and sheltered from the westerlies by the building, didn't see much though, just a few Gannet, Sandwich Terns, Common Scoters, Turnstone and Dunlins. Inside the angled windows do seem to degrade scope views but are OK for binos. Parking is free at the moment but a meter is being installed.

Thanks for that link Geoff. Would be interested to see more posts on this subject. I feel there could be scope for involvement by the LBC.

Could the building accommodate meetings or lectures? Will anyone at the club be able to log sightings on a regular basis? Could it be incorporated into the network of UK coastal observatories? Are the RSPB, BTO or the LWT involved?

I certainly wouldn't mind having the facility on my patch - especially if it offers the prospect of watching passage auks, divers, gannets, terns, skuas, shearwaters and even incoming falls of migrant songbirds.

But perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself. . .
