I had part of my hedge cut last week, I checked to see any nests, there was a Wood Pigeon so it was left and cut either side of it leaving about three feet wide uncut.

If any occupied bird nest is seen in trees then it is illegal to fell or prune until the nest has been vacated

I guess the contractors probably didn’t look for nests or the council if they are responsible for the contract?

it’s prime time for pigeons doves and thrushes to have nests ( first or second broods )

Tree felling. was created by John T Goy
Today on way to hospital my driver commented about trees being felled between Scotter Road viaduct going along Brumby Wood Lane towards Kingsway, for those who know this area from the rail line down to road there is a steep embankment where trees etc grew, a lot of the trees have been cut down and all that can be seen is chippings. Just before the entrance to the crematorium there is single line traffic with signals, there was a cherry picker way high cutting the trees down ,am normally dead against this but the trees hang right across the road and touch other trees growing opposite. This work should have been done years ago. I looked at the vehicles and they are a private firm.

Wondered if they had considered it's still nesting time.
