Many of you will have known my best birding buddy, well know Louth birder John Clarkson who tragically died of a brain tumour last August. Before he fell ill, we were working on a 2nd edition of his Birds of Louth (2007).  It was his last wish that it should be published.  I am pleased to say it just has been, 148 pages, soft back, lavishly illustrated with excellent colour photographs of all the species covered  and accounts of all 195 species recorded in Louth, taken by John and friends, text written by me, edited by John’s wife Nicky and produced by his brother in law Geoff Mullett. The book also has a full up to date 407 species Lincolnshire Checklist with Louth birds highlighted.  Birds of Louth has been very well received and makes an excellent gift for anyone interested in birds.Any profit from the book will be donated to brain tumour research and we make more on a private sale for £10 than a retail sale for £12.We have a couple of events planned where you can drop in and pick up a copy of the book for £10 and you can have it signed if you wish.Wednesday 5th June. Phil Espin will be in the rear yard of the Wheatsheaf, Westgate Louth from 1pm to 7 pm. He’ll have his scope set up to watch the Peregrines on the church and will be selling and signing Birds of Louth.
