A white-tailed eagle was today's star bird, putting in a brief appearance over Loch Morlich.

it made up for the absence of any red-throated divers or Slavonian grebes (though there were goldeneye and, at the water's edge, common sandpiper)..

Trouble is only six of the party were in the right place at the right time for the eagle - and, sadly, I wasn’t one of them,

Despite the sunshine, there is still snow on the mountains.

Chaffinches are by far the commonest bird, but willow warblers (singing) can't be far behind,

On the River Gynack outside the hotel, a pair of dippers have been very showy.
