Just read up on bluebells it says, "all parts of the bluebell contain toxic glycosides that are poisonous to humans, dogs, horses and cattle. Can result in serious stomach upset if large amounts eaten, can also be fatal.  If the sap gets on to peoples hands it can cause skin irritation. There was no mention of pigeons eating them.

Today while watching bird activity in back garden saw something not seen before one feral pigeon eating the flowers of bluebells, didn't see any of the other dozen Feral Pigeon doing it, it took quite a few heads off, I went to look at damage and saw the same next to garage but this time the stem had been taken off and assume the flower head then eaten. Has anyone seen this behaviour?

Have seen Wood Pigeon last year eating flowers off cherry blossom and this year eating leaves of cherry tree.

Can only assume because there is very little sunflower hearts falling on ground the pigeons are eating anything nutritious.

Oddly the bluebells bottom of garden seems untouched.
