Sadly I think you are right, John.  Firstly, I think the majority of LBC members do not view the Forum - they use social media, Bird Alerts etc. Their main interest is rare and unusual birds and mundane sightings are of no interest to them.  I will continue to use the Forum supplying ringing data but I use Birdtrack for my sightings - I know that those records are viewed by the County Recorder and included in the annual total.  I think locations such as "undisclosed site in North Lincolnshire" or discussions on the validity of 13 Red Kites at Messingham Sand Quarry is of relevance to only a small  handful of member!

Just been reading the minutes of latest LBC AGM makes interesting reading on a few points especially the above named.

Sounds as if the death knell could be sounding.

Of late have noticed very few posts are appearing on the forum, not sure why, birders go out in all weathers, so can't blame the weather so maybe it's down to illness.  I come on every day hoping to read posts and this week there has been a distinct lack of them, this week there have been four posts up to Friday evening, let's hope things change! I could put posts on every day if needed but of late been putting them on weekly for My Garden and whenever for my patch.

That well known saying comes to mind "USE IT OR LOSE IT" and if the forum disappeared I for one would be very unhappy BUT am hoping that doesn't happen!  If it does will find another outlet but it won't be twitter etc.

Regards

John aka Max
PS: will be posting tonight with latest Siskin sightings.
