I never post anonymous on Birdtrack but like John there is one site I do not name nor report it on Birdtrack as like John says it is private land and past experience tells me some birders will ignore this and trespass.

There has always been a degree of secrecy among certain birders. I don't use Birdtrack anymore but have hundreds of records on there from years gone by. Without repeating myself I have one site I keep secret due to it being on private land.

Hope you get answers Neil but I doubt it.

John

I couldn't agree more, Neil.  I do not think anonymous sightings are of a lot of value.

I use Bird track to record my sightings and I also use it to see who has seen what and where.  Sadly most of the Bird track reports submitted in Lincolnshire are submitted by Anonymous users.
Is this because folk want to hide their sightings or is it that most do not know you can display your name publicly from the Account tab on the app.

I always check the name of a report shown on the Birdtrack sightings because I am more likely to travel to look for a bird if the reporter is someone I have heard about.
Thank You
