My biggest worry is dog walkers. As someone who has had first hand abuse at Tetney marshes (yacht club end), I fear that linking, and opening up these areas to be more accessible is just going to cause trouble for the habitats that at present are quite isolated.

Good point John. There's two sides to every argument, and just goes to show we should be careful what we wish for. If a bridge were to be built it would have to be long and substantial to withstand a tidal surge, which as you say, will come in the end.

That's unbelievable Jim, and just sums up officialdom. They can quibble over the wording of the signage on Tetney marshes but when it comes to understanding what wildlife we've already got and what it might need they haven't got a clue.
The formation of the salt marsh at Cleethorpes is an unstoppable natural process and can not be halted by a council with weed killer.

Before the Town Eau breach was completed the circuit was very well used by dog walkers and not unusual to see dogs out on the wetland area
thats reduced considerably now ,, so far less disturbance to feeding birds.
The reserves are linked it’s just a longer walk via the new embankment , if you wanted to walk , or cycle, but most people including many birders
drive to various coastal locations.
At some point in the future the narrow dune ridge towards the breach will possibly be breached by a large tidal surge as per Dec 2013 which cut a significant way into part of the dune , and almost overtopped the recently heightened sea Bank at Horseshoe point .

There is an irony to seeing the saltmarsh being celebrated. Many in Cleethorpes (especially seaside traders) think it diminishes the town as a bucket-and-spade holiday resort. Over the years, there have often been calls for it to be eradicated. I once went to a meeting where a councillor called for it to be liberally doused with weedkiller!

A new bridge at Donna Nook would definitely join the reserves together. That is what every body wanted in the first place.
