I would quite like to see them in the Natural History Museum but I bet they couldn't afford that sort of money.

At least the culprit who 'acquired' the birds from the wild, thereby hastening the species' extinction, won't have lived to reap any financial benefit from the bumper sale price.
It would be interesting to know how the birds were taken (shot or trapped?), when and where?
Also how come they came to be in England and who were a) the vendor and b) the successful bidder.
I'd like to think they might be going back to New Zealand, perhaps to a museum.
