Jack...

This species was still considered by BBRC as recently as 2003 but is a candidate for removal from LBRC consideration in the near future; for this reason we have not included observers’ initials in the forth coming 2016 report. However, we still encourage observers to provide at least brief details of sightings, to establish at least that there was no confusion with Little Egret!

I first saw a Great White Egret on the Witham between Dogdyke and Kirkstead Bridge on the 25th November. The next day I came back to 2. Today I saw on Twitter that there are now at least 3 Great White Egrets on the Witham in this area. I was just wondering whether there is a chance that they could overwinter on the river. If so, as a winter visitor and maybe even breeding in the near future, how long are they going to be an LBRC species?
