I concur with all the messages, I have known John for 45 years and often chatted with him re bird and general wildlife sightings
John was also a volunteer at Saltfleetby Theddlethorpe Dunes nnr and was very active during the late .
1980s and 1990 s when I was warden .
A very sad loss of a good person, my condolences to Nicky and family .
regards John

What a massive shock!
Sadly I never met John but we had correspondence on the old forum.
Will always remember him as a brilliant photographer, many of which have been shown on both the old and new forums.
Condolences to his family.

This is a sad day.
John was a county recorder for Lincs Bird Club for many years. He was a superb birder and photographer (I particularly recall his stunning photo of a red-flanked bluetail that turned up at Donna Nook).
He was also author of Birds of Louth and co-author of Birds of Lincolnshire.
He was boundlessly enthusiastic and a very kind and helpful fellow. He could always see the funny side of life and of birding.
His contributions have been immense, and the birding scene won't be the same without him.

Sad to share that John Clarkson an outstanding Lincs birder and good friend to many of us has passed away this morning. He will be greatly missed by all. Our thoughts are with his wife Nicky and children Aidan and Eleanor at this difficult time.
