To see so many bird corpses (mostly b-h gulls) at Frampton Marsh this morning was depressing.

Although I understand the arguments, I'm not sure that I agree with the RSPB's policy of leaving in situ rather than removing.

A visit to a nature reserve is supposed to be an enjoyable and uplifting visitor experience, but no one - least of all children on half-term holiday - likes to see dozens of dead birds, some close to the hides.

On the plus side, it was good to see plentiful avocets with chicks, and a spoonbill. The whooper swan with a very pale yellow on its bill was also interesting though I suspect the bird might not be in best of health.
