Today's statement from Anglian Water:"There are no current access restrictions at Covenham reservoir – we do though ask that if members of the public do see a dead or dying bird that they do not touch it and report it to us."

Attache is a map detail of the restriction zone - blue=3km.

A new case of bird flu has been indentified this week in the Fulstow area -  close to Covenham Reservoir (which has been included in  the 3km temporary control zone).

Here's hoping this won't restrict access for birders - it probably depends on whether the reservoir is classified by Defra as "a premises".

The case was confirmed yesterday on a commercial poultry farm which has not been identified.

All the birds are to be humanely culled.
