Just seen this one, John.   Tree Sparrows are very interesting in that they can be in good numbers one year and not seen the next.  I have been ringing in a Kirmond-le-Mire garden for over 15 years and have ringed in excess of 1000 Tree Sparrows in that time.  This year for the first time they have been completely absent since August.  Hopefully they will return but I have no idea for the reason of their absence.

Tree Sparrows are still fairly abundant at Blacktoft Sands, John,  and have done well this year.

Tree Sparrows was created by John T Goy
While browsing my logbooks noticed how many Tree Sparrow I always saw on my patch and beyond, nowadays never see any and never see any reported. Not sure if they are in a bad decline. One place to guarantee them was Blacktoft Sands and Old Moor both out of Lincs.  The latter at one time of day had over one hundred nest boxes up.

Almost always saw them at Worlaby and several other places I know.

I had them in garden on two occasions but they only stayed a few minutes.

Do any members remember seeing any this year?

John
