Wonder what impact this current spell of bitterly cold gales for 3 days and into a 4 th day and nights will have on owls , I suspect
a percentage of barn owls will die from starvation/ cold.
Having more than doubled the amount of garden feeding over recent days,I too have 2 fieldfares as well as 14 blackbirds and unusually 4 robins at same time
such is their hunger, as well as various finches tits dunnocks , have also noted blackbirds and fieldfares finding a few remain rose hips which are the last resort
food resource and also now very scarce, cannot recall such a prolonged gale force sub zero easterly over past 25 years, but this cold was not so unusual 40 to 50 years ago.

regards John
